Worn flapper, bad fill valve, cracked flush tower, or a water level set too high.
Tank bolts, tank-to-bowl gasket, flush valve seal, or supply line — we find the real leak point first.
Usually the wax ring, flange, or bolts. Stop using it until it's checked.
A wobble breaks the seal underneath. We reset it, replace the wax ring, and repair the flange.
Low tank water, clogged rim jets, worn parts, or a toilet that's just plain tired.
One clog is the toilet. Repeat clogs or several slow drains point to the drain line.
Often a blocked vent or main line problem. A camera tells us for sure.
Bidet seats and Toto toilets installed with the right shutoff and supply line.
Toilet problems are usually hiding inside the tank. Here's what we found — and fixed — on two recent jobs.

Looked fine from above. The crack is why it kept running — and why we inspect before guessing.
The two parts behind most running toilets, replaced together so you're not back here next month.
A failed gasket leaks every time you flush. New gasket and bolts stop it at the source.
We quote both, explain the difference, and let you decide. No pressure-flush sales pitch.
A few safe steps that limit damage until we get there.
Overflowing? Stop flushing and turn the valve behind the toilet clockwise.
Water at the base? Don't use that toilet until it's checked — the seal may be leaking under the floor.
Won't stop running? Jiggle the handle once. If it keeps going, the tank parts need work.
Several drains slow? It's probably the main line or septic, not the toilet.
Skip chemical drain cleaners. They sit in the bowl and make the repair messier and more hazardous.
Water on the floor? Keep it away from outlets and cords.
Not a plumbing mystery novel with a surprise bill hiding on the last page.

Tank, bowl, base, shutoff, supply line, and flush — plus a check for drain problems.
What failed, repair vs. replace, and a firm price for each. You choose.
We complete the work, test the flush, check for leaks, and clean up.
Nobody thinks about their toilet until it starts running all night, leaking on the floor, or doing that slow, ominous rise when you flush. Then it's the only thing anyone in the house can think about.
Here's what I tell folks: most toilet problems are a part or two inside the tank, and a good plumber can tell you which in a few minutes. Sometimes it really is time for a new one, and we'll say so. Either way, you'll know the price before we start. (And no, we won't judge you for whatever's in the bowl. We've seen it all.)

Quick part, major rebuild, drain problem, or new toilet? Straight answers here.
A toilet that keeps running is usually caused by a worn flapper, a failing fill valve, a cracked flush tower, a tangled chain, or the water level set too high. If jiggling the handle once doesn't stop it, the parts inside the tank need adjusting or replacing. A running toilet can waste a lot of water, so it is worth fixing quickly.
Water at the base of a toilet usually means a failed wax ring, loose toilet bolts, a damaged flange, or a cracked toilet, though a leaking supply line or condensation can look similar. If water shows up after you flush, stop using that toilet and call, because wastewater may be leaking under the toilet and into the floor.
Repair usually makes sense when the problem is a replaceable part like a flapper, fill valve, flush valve, handle, tank gasket, supply line, or wax ring. Replacement is the better value when the porcelain is cracked, the toilet clogs constantly, the flush is weak no matter what, or the repair cost gets close to a new toilet. We quote both.
Stop flushing right away and turn the shutoff valve behind the toilet clockwise until it stops. If it won't turn, lift the tank lid and raise the float to stop the fill. Keep water away from outlets. If other drains are backing up too, the problem is likely the main line, so call a plumber instead of plunging again.
A gurgling or bubbling toilet usually points to a partial clog, a blocked vent, or a problem in the main drain or sewer line. If it bubbles when another fixture drains, or several drains are slow at once, the toilet is probably not the real problem. Earl's Plumbing can clear the line and camera it if backups keep coming back.
Earl's Plumbing installs bidet seats, bidet fixtures, Toto toilets, and standard toilets. Before quoting, we check the shutoff valve, supply line, nearby outlet, and how the new seat or toilet will fit, so the upgrade works right the first time. We also replace old shutoffs and supply lines during the install when they need it.
Earl's Plumbing gives a free, upfront quote before any toilet repair begins. Cost depends on what failed, whether the toilet has to be pulled, the condition of the flange and floor, and whether repair or replacement is the better value. There is no service call fee, and online customers get $25 off. Call or text (530) 343-0330.
Earl's Plumbing charges no service call fee, ever. I've never liked that practice — you shouldn't have to pay just to find out what something costs. We come out, look at the toilet, explain what's wrong, and give you a free quote. If you say no, you owe nothing. We've been family-owned in Northern California since 1998.
